    Most forced reset triggers have a small protruding lever, arm, or "sear trip" on the trigger that extends upward into the BCG area. This lever uses the rearward movement of the BCG to mechanically force the trigger forward (reset it) after each shot, enabling the rapid follow-up shots that make an FRT work.
     
    In a standard semi-auto AR-15 BCG, there is usually enough open space or a proper "full-auto" style tail. In many 9mm AR-9 BCGs, the rear interior of the carrier contains a heavy tungsten or steel weight (added for reliable blowback cycling in pistol-caliber blowback systems). This weight often sits right where the FRT reset lever needs to move freely. If the weight blocks the lever, the FRT won't reset properly — or worse, the upper and lower receivers may not even close all the way together.
