Purpose: A pistol brace (also called a stabilizing brace) is an accessory originally designed to attach to the rear of large-format pistols, such as AR- or AK-style pistols, and strap securely to the shooter's forearm. Its primary purpose is to provide additional stability and control, especially for one-handed shooting or for individuals with limited mobility, disabilities, or injuries (including wounded veterans), by creating a third point of contact beyond just the hands and allowing better recoil management, reduced muzzle rise, and improved accuracy without turning the firearm into a shouldered rifle. While it enhances overall handling for many users, it was specifically developed to help those who might otherwise struggle to operate heavier pistols safely and effectively.
