Super Selektor FRT Trigger: Information and Installation Guide

The Super Selektor is a 3-position forced reset safety selector for AR-15 pattern rifles. It is an enhanced version of the Super Safety concept but uses a more traditional rotary selector lever (instead of a cross-bolt/push-button) and is made from durable heat-treated 4140 steel.

It replaces your standard safety selector while working with a standard mil-spec (or compatible) trigger.

How It Works

  • 3 Positions (typically ~90° throw):
    • Safe: Blocks the trigger (standard safety).
    • Semi: Normal semi-automatic function with standard reset.
    • Full-Semi / Super-Semi / Active: Enables forced reset. The selector’s internal cam/lever interacts with the trigger bar. The recoiling bolt carrier group (BCG) pushes the cam, which mechanically forces the trigger forward to reset faster than a normal spring alone. This allows much quicker follow-up shots while still requiring a separate trigger pull for each round (legal semi-auto enhancement).
  • It uses the BCG’s rearward motion to leverage the reset, reducing wear compared to some cassette-style FRTs.
  • Requirements for reliable function:
    • Mil-spec or compatible squared-off trigger (no relief cut on the rear of the trigger bar).
    • Full-auto profile (FA) BCG.
    • Low-shelf or full-profile trigger pocket lower.
    • H2 or H3 buffer (recommended; heavier helps prevent outrunning the reset).
    • Clean, well-lubricated rifle.

It is not full-auto and remains semi-automatic under federal law, but check your state/local laws (restricted in many places like CA, NY, NJ, etc.).

How to Install It

Installation is a drop-in selector swap (similar to a normal safety but with extra care for alignment and fitment). It takes minutes but is not always 100% plug-and-play—about 40% of setups may need minor trigger modification (filing/sanding the rear of the trigger bar slightly).

Basic Steps (general from manufacturer and user guides):

  1. Clear the firearm completely.
  2. Separate upper and lower.
  3. Remove the pistol grip (to access detent/spring).
  4. Remove the existing safety selector, detent, and spring.
  5. Install the new selector:
    • Insert the detent shaft partially from the right side.
    • Install the spring and cam-lever (ensure orientation: cam/lever arm positioned correctly, often with detent holes facing the buffer tube).
    • Push the shaft fully through.
    • Install the external lever (textured side up/out) and secure with the provided screw.
  6. Reinstall the pistol grip, detent, and spring.
  7. Function test thoroughly (dry fire first):
    • Check all three positions.
    • In Super mode: Pull trigger → hammer falls → BCG motion should reset trigger forward.
    • Binding check: With upper off, manipulate the cam lever while holding the hammer — no excessive resistance.

If it doesn't function smoothly:

  • Test your trigger compatibility (squared rear bar).
  • Minor filing on the trigger tail (rear bottom) may be needed for clearance — do this incrementally and re-test.
  • Some users report needing slight adjustments or contacting support for a replacement lever.

Safety & Legal: This is a performance mod. Improper install can cause malfunctions. Always function test dry and live-fire incrementally. Verify legality in your area (many states ban rate-increasing devices). Consult a gunsmith if unsure. We do not ship to restricted states.
